Fortress Tour in Kotka for Groups
On the tour you will visit Kyminlinna Fortress, Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge, Metsola Steam Brewery, Kukouri Fortress Island and enjoy the sea views and the silhouette of Kotkansaari Island in the oldest wooden water bus in Finland.
The Kymijoki river estuary has historically been a border region, and Sweden and Russia and have clashed in the area at different times. Therefore, a significant fortification complex has been created in the area, with forts built on different islands forming a defensive complex of unity. The fortresses that remain are Kyminlinna Fortress on the northern part of Hovinsaari and Kukouri Fortress on the sea off Kotka.

Unique Fortresses
Kyminlinna fortress is one of the most interesting and largest fortresses in Finland, with a history of more than 200 years that includes colourful twists and turns, interesting characters and one big bang.
Fort Slava - the circular fortress was built on the island of Kukouri Between 1792 and 1794 to guard the entrance to the port of Svensksund. At the fort, you can hear stories about the area's role in maritime defence and enjoy a self-guided walk along the island's paths.
Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge
The summer residence of Emperor Alexander III at Langinkoski offers a unique window on life under the Tsars. The charming imperial hut is situated in a scenic location on the shores of Langinkoski. The tour includes a guided tour of the area and a walk along the magnificent rapids.
Sea Cruise from Langinkoski to Kukour Fortress
You board a traditional wooden boat from Langinkoski beach. Finland's oldest wooden waterbus Tuula will take you through bridges and straits to the front of the harbour in Kotka, from where the journey continues to Kukouri Fortress.
Metsola Steam Brewery
We pass by the steam brewery, the second oldest building in the Kotka area. The brewery used to brew Ukko beer with steam. Today, the building has been restored and houses meeting and congress facilities as well as the Keisarinsatama restaurant.
Port of Kotka
Through bridges and straits we move on to the port of Kotka (Kantasatama), a developing area of Kotka. In the area you will see some great architecture: the Vellamo Maritime Centre, museum ships, Restaurant Cairo, the Event Centre Satama and the campus of Kotka University of Applied Sciences.
Sapokka Marina
The cruise and excursion end at Sapokka marina in the centre of Kotka, known for its award-winning water park and stunning scenery. In Sapokka water garden you can admire the magnificent flower plantations, waterfall and rare trees.
Fascinating Stories on Land and Sea
At Kyminlinna and Langinkoski, expert guides tell you the fascinating historical stories of the sites, and at sea, a captain tells tales of the archipelago, the landscape, the sea battles of the Svensksund and the colourful past of Kukouri island.
